Description

The Deela is a single pendant light with a 178mm teardrop-shaped opal glass shade suspended from a matt black tapered metal fitting on an adjustable cable. The satin-etched opal glass diffuses light evenly in all directions, turning a single E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 60W) into ambient room lighting rather than a focused downlight.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables, breakfast bars and reading corners, the pendant works as a solo fitting over a small table or in multiples over longer worktops. The 683mm minimum drop suits standard UK ceiling heights of 2.4m, while the cable extends to 1445mm maximum for higher ceilings or installation over counters that need the pendant brought lower. The 178mm glass diameter keeps the footprint compact enough for narrow hallways and alcoves.

The matt black metal fitting provides a grounding counterpoint to the white opal glass, and the tapered form references traditional pottery shapes adapted to contemporary proportions. The satin-etch finish on the glass softens the light output and hides the bulb profile when viewed from the side, making filament-style LED bulbs less visually dominant than they would be in clear glass. Yes. The 683mm minimum drop and 178mm diameter suit installation over kitchen islands and breakfast bars. For islands longer than 1.2m, consider spacing two or three Deela pendants at 600-800mm intervals for even light coverage.

Is the cable adjustable during installation?

Yes. The cable can be shortened or extended between 683mm and 1445mm drop during fitting. Most installations over a worktop position the glass shade 600-750mm above the surface.

Does the opal glass hide the bulb?

The satin-etched opal glass diffuses light and softens the bulb outline when viewed from the side, but the bulb shape is still faintly visible. Filament-style LED bulbs remain decorative rather than distracting in this shade.
