Description

The Deeka is a hand blown jar in recycled glass, 20cm tall and 20cm across at its widest. The body swells low and draws in to a short neck, and a turned mango wood lid sits over it in two stepped tiers. The glass carries the faint green cast that recycled glass keeps, and the wall varies in thickness the way blown glass does, so the light through it is uneven.

It holds 2400ml and the lid is lined with silicone, which seals it by suction. That puts it on a worktop or an open shelf where the contents show rather than inside a cupboard. It is for dry food.

The jar is recycled glass and the lid is mango wood, turned so the grain runs in rings around it. Every jar is blown by hand, so the shoulder sits at a slightly different height on each and the wood takes the turning differently. Deeka is made in two sizes, this one at 20cm and a taller one at 23.5cm holding 3100ml.
