Dasai Mango Wood & Iron Bedside Table - Natural

A bedside table in mango wood set into a dark iron frame, 60cm high, 45cm wide and 40cm deep. The wooden carcass holds one drawer across the top, faced flush and pulled by a slim iron bar, with an open cubby under it that has a solid back and base. The iron runs up the four corners as square legs and carries on past the carcass to frame the top, so the wood sits inside a raised metal edge. The wood is left with the saw texture across it rather than worked back flat.

At 60cm the top stands a little above the mattress of most beds. The drawer runs the full width of the carcass, and the open cubby under it is deep enough to stand books upright. At 45cm wide and 40cm deep it needs a clear 45cm of wall beside the bed.

The carcass is mango wood and the frame, the legs and the drawer pull are iron. Each one is made by hand, so the grain runs differently through every top, and the tone of the wood will shift a little over the years. The Dasai range also holds a console table, a chest of drawers, a storage unit and a media unit built the same way, in mango wood on an iron frame.

How big is it?

60cm high, 45cm wide and 40cm deep.

How many drawers does it have?

One, running the full width, with an open shelf below it.

What is the frame made from?

Iron. It runs up the four corners as square legs and frames the top edge.

Does the top mark?

It can. Use a coaster under a drink, blot any spill straight away with a dry cloth, and keep chemical cleaners away from the finish.

Can the wood be oiled?

Yes. An edible oil such as olive or walnut rubbed into the surface with a cloth will feed and protect it, though it may darken the tone.
