Description
The Cotswold Lane is a 762mm outdoor wall lantern with three E14 bulb fittings behind clear bevelled glass panels set in a black die-cast aluminium frame. The lantern body features vertical ribbed detailing at the top, fluted moulding around the mid-section, and a scrolled swan-neck wall bracket cast as part of the mounting plate. An IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making the lantern suitable for exterior walls, covered porches and open patios.
Designed to flank front doors, French windows, garage doors and patio entrances, the Cotswold Lane provides both functional illumination and architectural presence. The 413mm projection from the wall positions the lantern clear of the doorframe or siding, while the 305mm width gives visual weight appropriate to the 762mm height. The three bulb positions inside the lantern body distribute light through all four glass faces, providing illumination down to the threshold, forward into the approach path, and across the wall plane. Each E14 bulb position accepts up to 60W (bulbs sold separately).
The clear bevelled glass panels are set into metal frames with mitred corners, and the black powder-coated aluminium resists corrosion in coastal and high-moisture environments. The moulded architectural detailing on the cap, mid-body and base references Georgian and Regency lantern forms without literal period reproduction. The black finish sits comfortably alongside painted masonry, timber cladding and rendered facades in both traditional and contemporary builds. Feiss backs the lantern with a 3-year guarantee covering finish degradation and structural integrity under normal outdoor exposure.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean for installation?
IP44 protects against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The Cotswold Lane can be fitted to exterior walls, covered porches and open patios but is not rated for immersion or direct hose spray. It suits all UK weather zones including coastal areas.
What bulbs does it take?
The lantern takes three E14 small Edison screw bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K for traditional character or clear filament LED bulbs for visible lamp detail through the glass.
What wall height is best for flanking a door?
The 762mm height suits installation at 1500-1700mm above ground level when flanking a front door, positioning the mid-point of the lantern roughly level with the door handle or lock. This places the bottom of the lantern approximately 1100-1300mm above the threshold and the top at 2200-2400mm.
Can it be installed on a rendered or masonry wall?
Yes. The mounting plate fixes to a standard junction box or directly to masonry using appropriate wall plugs and screws. The 413mm projection means the lantern sits clear of typical exterior wall thicknesses and does not need additional spacers or packing.
