Description

The Cotswold Lane is a 292mm outdoor wall lantern in black die-cast aluminium with clear bevelled glass panels and a pagoda-style roof topped with a finial. The lantern takes one E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) and carries an IP44 rating for protection against splashing water, making it suitable for porches, covered front doors and partially sheltered exterior walls.

Designed for traditional, period and classical architecture, the lantern references 19th-century gas lamp designs with ribbed detailing around the roof edge and a scrolled wall bracket. The 197mm projection from the wall positions the glass housing clear of render and brickwork, reducing shadows on the mounting surface. The bevelled glass gives crisp light edges when lit with a clear filament or LED bulb.

The black powder-coated finish resists corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments and pairs with black guttering, downpipes and ironmongery on period properties. The 165mm width suits single front doors, side entrances and garage side doors where a larger lantern would overpower the architectural scale. What does the IP44 rating cover?

IP44 means the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction. It's suitable for covered porches, front doors under overhangs and partially sheltered exterior walls. It is not rated for full exposure to driving rain or direct hose-down cleaning.

What bulb should I use?

The lantern takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. For a traditional look, pair it with a warm-white LED filament bulb at 2700K in a clear candle or squirrel-cage style. The bevelled glass works best with clear bulbs rather than frosted.

How is it mounted?

The scrolled wall bracket fixes to the wall with two screws through pre-drilled holes in the backplate. The bracket projects 197mm from the wall once fitted. Wiring is concealed behind the backplate and feeds through a cable entry point on the rear face.

Can it be installed near a door frame?

Yes. The 165mm width and 197mm projection mean the lantern can be fitted alongside a standard single front door without overhanging the door swing. Position the centre of the lantern approximately 1500-1700mm from ground level for balanced proportions on most residential front doors.
