Description

Our Cosmina basket is a rocket made of seagrass, rattan and iron, and it is storage first: the nose cone lifts away as a lid and the body holds the toys. It stands 68.5cm tall and 40cm across, so it belongs on the floor rather than a shelf, and at 1KG it is light enough to carry from playroom to bedroom. The weave is natural in colour, picked out with a contrasting band around the nose, a numeral 1 down the front, two stripes near the base and fins that splay outwards to stand it upright.

A rocket gives children a reason to tidy, and this one plays its part in the game as well as holding everything at the end of the day. A round porthole on one side frames a favourite soft toy or doll, so a passenger can stay in view, even with the lid in place. It suits a nursery, a child's bedroom or the corner of a playroom, and at its height it reads as a piece of furniture beside a bed or a bookcase rather than a basket tucked away. Fill it with soft toys, dolls and small cars, then set the nose cone back in place to hide the lot.

It is made of seagrass, rattan and iron, and the lid simply rests on the body with no hinge, so it lifts clear in one easy movement. Seagrass is a natural fibre, so tone and texture vary a little from one basket to the next, and that slight irregularity is part of the charm of a woven piece. The styling props shown are not included, so the toys and dolls are yours to choose. For styling, stand it on a soft rug beside a cot or a woven chair, where the natural tones sit comfortably together, and let the contrasting fins and numeral give the room its focal point.

Frequently Asked

What is the Cosmina basket made of?

It is made of seagrass, rattan and iron, shaped as a rocket in a natural colour with contrasting bands, a numeral and fins.

How big is the rocket basket?

It stands 68.5cm tall and 40cm across, so it is a floor-standing basket for a bedroom or playroom rather than a shelf.

Does the lid come off?

Yes. The nose cone is the lid and lifts away from the body, leaving the whole basket open for filling and emptying.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 1KG, so it is light enough to move between the bedroom and the playroom whenever needed.

What does the round porthole do?

It is a window in the weave, so a favourite soft toy or doll can sit inside with its face in view while the lid stays in place.

What comes with the basket?

You receive the rocket basket and its nose cone lid. The styling props shown, such as the soft toys and dolls, are not included.
