The Hinkley Collier is a 483mm diameter flush ceiling light with a frosted glass bowl set into a black oxide metal frame that sits 165mm from the ceiling. Three E27 bulbs inside the bowl (sold separately) cast light through the frosted glass, diffusing it evenly across the room rather than creating a focused beam. The black oxide frame has subtle cast detailing around the ceiling plate that references mid-century hardware without adding visual weight.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or lower where a pendant would hang too low, the Collier suits hallways, bedrooms, box rooms, low-ceilinged lounges and period properties with original lower ceilings. The 165mm projection keeps the fitting close to the ceiling while the 483mm diameter provides enough spread for rooms up to 4m square. The frosted glass hides the bulbs from view when looking up at the fitting, avoiding glare from bare filaments or LED chips.

The black oxide finish is a matte grey-black metal tone that pairs comfortably with both warm timber and cooler grey-toned interiors, sitting between industrial black and softer charcoal. What bulbs does the Collier take?

The fitting takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for even ambient light across the room.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 165mm projection makes the Collier well-suited to rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or lower, where a pendant would hang too low or create a visual obstruction. The flush design keeps the fitting tight to the ceiling while providing diffused light across the room.

Can it be dimmed?
