Description
The Cirze is a 120x59cm cluster wall mirror built from eighteen circular mirrors and gold leaf discs arranged in an asymmetric vertical composition on a black-lacquered MDF base. The mirrors range in diameter from approximately 8cm to 24cm, with each mirror set into a thin black metal rim that sits flush with the surrounding gold leaf sections. The gold leaf finish on the non-mirror discs shows a hammered texture that catches and scatters light differently across the surface.
Designed as a feature wall piece for hallways, above console tables, or as an accent in living spaces, the Cirze can be hung vertically as shown or rotated to a horizontal orientation. The asymmetric arrangement of circles creates visual movement without needing additional decoration around it. The 2cm depth keeps the profile slim against the wall, while the black lacquered MDF backing provides structure for the weight of eighteen separate mirror and gold leaf sections.
At 6.2kg, the mirror needs secure wall fixings into masonry or timber studs rather than plasterboard alone. The gold leaf finish on the non-reflective sections is applied to a metal base, giving it durability against handling during installation. The contrast between the clear mirror glass and the textured gold creates depth, with each mirror reflecting a slightly different angle depending on viewing position. Schuller manufactures the Cirze in Spain, where the gold leaf sections are finished by hand before assembly.

Frequently Asked
Can the Cirze be hung horizontally?
Yes. The mirror can be installed vertically as photographed or rotated to a horizontal orientation. The fixings on the back allow for either position.
What wall fixings are needed?
At 6.2kg, the Cirze needs secure fixings into masonry or timber studs. Standard plasterboard fixings are not sufficient unless used with a backing plate or heavy-duty toggle bolts rated for at least 10kg.
How is the gold leaf finish maintained?
The gold leaf sections are sealed and do not require polishing. Wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For the mirror sections, use standard glass cleaner applied to the cloth rather than sprayed directly onto the surface to avoid liquid running onto the gold leaf.
Does each mirror section reflect at the same angle?
No. The circular mirrors are set at slightly different depths within the composition, so each reflects a different angle depending on viewing position. This creates the sense of movement and depth in the overall piece.
