Description

This is a small white stoneware bowl made in the shape of a bird, its head raised at one end and its body forming the hollow, with a wavy, scalloped rim that rises to a notched tail. It is 13.5cm long, 8.5cm wide and 6cm tall, and it holds 60ml, so think of it as a pinch bowl or a little side dish rather than a bowl for a meal. The surface is a reactive glaze over stoneware, a dense clay fired hard, and the whole piece weighs 0.23KG.

In the kitchen it makes a neat salt dish beside the hob or on the table, with room for flaky salt and a tiny spoon, and it is just as handy for a dip, a little relish or a few capers next to a cheese board.
