Chandani Tall Tumblers - Green - Set of 4

A set of four tall tumblers in green glass, each 13cm high and 8cm across, holding 450ml. The walls are hammered all over, so the surface breaks the light into small facets rather than sitting flat, and one side of every glass is pinched inwards to give the hand somewhere to sit. The rim is rolled and the outline is softly irregular, a little wider at the lip and at the foot than through the middle.

At 450ml each glass takes a long drink, so these are the water and juice glasses on a table rather than short tumblers for spirits. The green is strong enough to read as olive against a pale table and open enough to show the level of the drink through it. The pinched side falls under the fingers, which is worth having on a glass of this height. Four to a set covers a table of four.

The glass is recycled and each tumbler is hand blown, so the hammering falls differently on every one and no two are exactly the same height. The surface is hammered while the glass is still soft and the grip pinched in afterwards. The colour is deepest where the wall is thickest, at the foot and just under the rim, and lightest across the middle of the body.

Are they food safe and dishwasher safe?

Yes to both. Wash them after every use to prevent staining, use a mild detergent, do not leave them to soak, and handle them with care.

Is the glass recycled?

Yes. The glasses are hand blown from recycled glass using traditional tools, and the surface is hammered and then pinched by hand.

Will the four match?

Not exactly. Each one is blown and worked by hand, so the hammered texture and the outline differ from glass to glass.
