Description

The tallest Chaipat at 50cm, on the same 9.5cm foot as the medium. The extra height goes into the stem between the foot and the flattened bead, which sits lower in proportion than it does on the shorter two. The cup at the top is the same, and so is the rough cast surface.

Fifty centimetres puts the flame well above the plates and clear of the glasses, high enough to light the table without sitting in the sightline between the people at it. It stands at the back of a row of three, with the 34 and the 42cm in front. It takes a dinner candle.

The metal is iron under an antique brass finish. The casting leaves the surface rough and the patination uneven, and differently so on every piece. A 34cm and a 42cm Chaipat run alongside it. The candle is not included.

Frequently Asked

How tall is it?

50cm, on a foot 9.5cm across.

What candle does it take?

A dinner candle.

What other sizes are there?

34cm and 42cm.

Why is the surface uneven?

It is cast, and casting of this kind leaves a rough surface with irregular patination. It is the method, not a fault.

How do I look after it?

Wash it in warm water with a mild dish soap after every use so that wax does not build up, and dry it straight away. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish, and stand the candle securely. It gets hot in use, so let it cool fully before handling it, keep it out of reach of children, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
