Description

The large Chaaval jar stands 23cm tall and 18cm across the foot, and holds 3250ml. The glass tapers the whole way: widest at a heavy rolled base and narrowing steadily to a short upright neck, with a green cast showing in the thickest glass at the bottom. The lid is mango wood, a solid disc with an arch cut through it to lift by and a turned plug underneath that seats inside the neck.

At 3250ml this is the larger of the two Chaaval jars, and more than twice the capacity of the small one. It stands on an open kitchen shelf. The wall is clear the whole way round, so the level shows from across the kitchen. It takes pantry staples.

Every jar is blown by hand, so the taper and the thickness of the wall vary a little from one to the next, and the green in the base is deeper on some than on others. The lids are turned from sustainably sourced mango wood and sanded until the plug seats in the neck, and the grain runs its own way through each one. It is for dry food only.
