Description

A single-wick scented candle in a hand-blown recycled glass vessel, 9cm high and 9cm across. The glass carries a heavy sandy texture that runs from a pale grey rim down through smoke to near black at the foot, so the vessel reads as stone rather than glass and nothing shows through it. The wax is poured level and plain cream against it, with one cotton wick at the centre.

It holds 270g and burns for 45 to 50 hours. The scent is cedarwood, aromatic smoke and honeyed fig, worked around woody notes with natural patchouli oil and birch tar in the blend. At 9cm square it takes very little room on a tray, a mantelpiece or a bedside table, and the vessel is made to be kept and used again once the candle has burned through.

The wax is a blend of sustainably sourced European soy wax and natural beeswax, hand-poured and packed in the UK, and the wick is cotton. The glass is hand-blown into a mould, so the shape and the run of the texture vary from one vessel to the next. The same scent is also made as a reed diffuser.

Frequently Asked

How long does it burn?

45 to 50 hours, from 270g of wax on a single wick.

What does it smell of?

Cedarwood, aromatic smoke and honeyed fig, with natural patchouli oil and birch tar in the blend.

What is the vessel made of?

Hand-blown recycled glass, under a heavy textured finish.

Can the vessel be used again?

Yes, and it is meant to be. Once the candle has burned down, put the vessel in a freezer for six to twelve hours until the wax shrinks away from the glass and can be knocked out gently. Wipe it with a clean damp cloth to lift the residue. Do not leave it to soak, do not scrub it, and keep abrasive cloths and harsh detergents away from it.

How should I burn it?

The first time, let the wax melt right out to the sides. After that trim the wick to 5mm before each burn, and burn it for at least two hours but no more than four at a time, in a ventilated room and away from draughts. Stand it on a stable, heat-protected surface, safely away from children, pets and anything flammable. Stop burning when about 10mm is left, never move it while it is lit and never leave it unattended.
