A twisted flex with a dark blue braided fabric outer, woven closely over two core conductors of 0.75mm. The colour reads almost navy in daylight and settles down under warm lamplight, so it works as part of a fitting rather than as a line that pulls the eye. It is VDE approved, and whatever quantity you order is supplied as a single continuous length rather than short cut pieces.

We reach for this where the flex is meant to be seen: pendants dropped over a table, a cluster above an island, plug-in table and wall lights whose cable runs down past a shelf. It suits anyone reviving an older lamp or making up a pendant to a drop of their own choosing, and the braid gives a softer, more textile look than smooth PVC in rooms with wood, brick or strong paint colours. Keep it to dry rooms indoors on a household supply, so kitchens, bedrooms, halls and studies rather than bathrooms, porches or anywhere it would meet weather.

The braid is the finish here, so treat it as fabric. A dry cloth or a soft brush drawn along the weave every so often lifts dust out of the texture, and solvents or a wet cloth are best kept away from it. Braided flex will also hold a kink if it is stored tightly coiled, so a loose loop is kinder and keeps it hanging straight. It carries a one year warranty.
