Description

Braided flex is what we reach for when the cable is going to be seen rather than hidden. This one has a grey woven outer over a two core, 0.75mm construction, so it suits pendants, table lamps and floor lamps alike. The weave gives it a soft textile look and a little more body than a plain PVC flex, so it falls in a gentle curve. It is VDE approved. Order the quantity you need in metres and it comes as one continuous run rather than a bundle of short pieces.

Grey is the quiet choice among the braided colours. It settles against plaster, painted walls and darker joinery without pulling the eye, which makes it useful for a row of pendants over a kitchen island or a cluster in a stairwell where several drops are on show at once. It is equally at home on a rewired vintage lamp, where a bright white flex would look wrong against old brass or enamel. Buy the total run you need and take each drop from it.

The braid is woven over the insulated cores and finished neatly along its length. To keep it looking right, draw a dry cloth along the cable now and then, since a textile weave holds dust more readily than a smooth sheath; do that with the lamp switched off and unplugged at the socket. It carries a one year warranty.
