Description

Caty is a pair of stoneware candle holders shaped as two striped cats, each with pointed ears, drawn eyes, a little nose and a tail that curls round into a handle. The set of two pairs a tall cat with a low one. The taller holder is 13cm tall, 12cm long and 8cm wide, its body stacked in soft rolls as though the cat were stretching upright, with a narrow opening at the top for a slim taper candle. The low holder stands on four stubby legs and is 16cm long, 10.5cm wide and 8cm tall, with a wider round opening that takes a short pillar candle. Bold blue stripes run round both bodies, and the insides are spotted.

These suit a side table, a sideboard, a bookshelf or a deep windowsill, anywhere a little humour helps a room. Set side by side, the two heights make a small scene: one cat upright, one on all fours, with flames at two levels. They work in a living room, on a hallway console or on a dining table laid for friends, and they make a cheerful present for anyone who loves cats or bold blue pattern.
