Description

The Casandra is a 120cm glass console table built from a 12mm tempered glass top and a polished stainless steel base formed from two interlocking rings. The rings sit perpendicular to one another, creating a circular profile from the front and a figure-eight when viewed from the side. The steel base stands on a rectangular plinth and supports the glass via two cylindrical risers that bolt through the top.

Designed for hallways, behind sofas and entrance areas where depth is limited, the 38cm depth allows the table to sit against a wall without protruding into walkways. The glass top provides a display surface for lamps, plants, keys and mail without adding visual mass, while the polished steel base contributes sculptural presence. The 39.4kg combined weight of steel and glass gives the table stability on tiled, wooden and carpeted floors without needing to be fixed to the wall.

The stainless steel is polished to a mirror finish that reflects surrounding light and colour, making the base read as bright chrome in most lighting conditions. The glass has a polished edge with bevelled corners and sits on rubber buffers atop the steel risers, preventing direct metal-to-glass contact. Yes. The 12mm top is made from tempered safety glass, which is heat-treated to be stronger than standard annealed glass and breaks into small granular chunks rather than sharp shards if fractured.

What weight can the glass top support?

Schuller does not publish a specific load rating for the Casandra. The 12mm tempered glass is appropriate for typical console table use: table lamps, vases, decorative objects and personal items. Avoid concentrated point loads or sitting on the glass.

How is the table assembled?

The steel base arrives pre-assembled. The glass top is placed onto the two cylindrical risers that extend up from the base, with rubber buffers preventing direct contact between metal and glass. No tools are required for assembly.

How is the polished steel maintained?

Fingerprints and smudges show on polished stainless steel. Wipe with a soft microfibre cloth and a stainless steel cleaner or glass cleaner to restore the mirror finish. Avoid abrasive pads or scouring creams that will scratch the polish.
