Description

This small stoneware dish takes the shape of a wrapped sweet: a shallow, round centre with a twisted wrapper flaring out at either end. The decoration is painted by hand, with broad pink swirls sweeping across the centre and fine painted lines on the wrapper ends, so it looks just like a striped sweet waiting to be unwrapped. It measures 15cm long, 10cm wide and 1.5cm tall and weighs 0.15KG, which makes it a dish for a few treats rather than a platter for a whole spread.

Its natural home is the Christmas table. Set one beside each place with a mince pie, a couple of biscuits or a few chocolates, or pass it round with sugared almonds once the plates are cleared.
