Description

The Calverdale is a round cut glass chandelier, 550mm across, with six lamps ringed inside a frame dressed in faceted glass. The cut glass picks up light from every angle and scatters it, so the fitting reads bright even at lower levels. Bright nickel metalwork keeps the tone cool and clean against the clear glass, and the round outline means it works as well viewed from a doorway as from directly below. The drop adjusts from 600mm to 1900mm, so it can hang low over a dining table or sit higher as a general ceiling light. It weighs 5.6kg.

This is a good fit above a dining table, in a bay window, or centred in a living room where you want sparkle without tipping into period grandeur. We would also use it in a generous bedroom, hung slightly above eye level. Six lamps give plenty of output for a main light, and dimming brings it down to something softer for the evening. It suits anyone who likes a bit of glitter with a modern outline rather than a traditional one.

The glass is cut and faceted, set into a metal frame finished in bright nickel, with six E14 LED lamps of around 6W each behind it. It is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer. Dust with a dry, soft cloth, working a soft brush between the facets where dust gathers, and keep glass sprays away from the lampholders. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and needs an earthed supply as a Class 1 fitting. A matching Calverdale semi-flush covers lower ceilings elsewhere in the house, so the range can run through the whole floor.
