Description

We stock the Calipso Ring as a compact ceiling light in brass, built around a ribbed cylindrical shade that houses a single GU10 bulb (sold separately). The shade is aluminium with a brushed brass finish worked into vertical flutes that run its length, so the surface catches and reflects light rather than reading as a plain tube. Light is directed downward through the open base, giving you focused downlighting from a fitting that sits close to the ceiling.

We think it earns its place in hallways, cloakrooms and low-ceiling rooms where a hanging pendant would sit too low, and it works over a landing or by an entrance where you want a tidy, compact fitting. It carries an IP20 rating, so keep it to dry indoor spots rather than areas that get wet. Because it takes a standard GU10 bulb, you can pick the colour temperature and brightness that suit the room.

The Calipso Ring runs on 220 to 240V mains at 50Hz and draws up to 10W through its single GU10 lamp holder. It is not dimmable, so we would pair it with a standard switch rather than a dimmer. The brushed brass finish is matt rather than polished, which keeps fingerprints and glare down, and the aluminium body keeps the fitting light and straightforward to mount.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does it take?

It takes one GU10 bulb, sold separately, so you can choose the brightness and colour temperature that suit the room. It draws up to 10W.

Is it dimmable?

No. This fitting is not dimmable, so we would wire it to a standard on/off switch rather than a dimmer.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. It is a compact fitting that sits close to the ceiling, so it works well in hallways, cloakrooms and rooms where a pendant would hang too low.
