Description

We stock the Calipso in black brass as a recessed downlight that pairs a black aluminium ceiling trim with a fluted brass reflector tube. It takes one GU10 bulb up to 10W (sold separately), and the vertical fluting on the brass tube softens the beam edge as the light leaves the fitting, cutting glare while keeping the light aimed downward. The two-tone finish gives it more presence than a plain recessed spot.

We reach for the Calipso in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and home offices where you want controlled accent or task light from the ceiling. The brass reflector sits below the black trim rather than fully hidden, so it reads as a small decorative detail under the ceiling line and suits contemporary and transitional rooms where metallic accents are wanted. The IP20 rating keeps it to dry interior ceilings only, so it is not one for bathrooms or outdoor soffits.

The GU10 socket accepts any standard mains-voltage LED or halogen GU10 bulb up to 10W, so you choose the colour temperature and beam angle by picking the bulb. The aluminium build keeps the weight low for straightforward recessed installation, and the fitting runs on 220-240V mains at 50Hz. The fitting itself is non-dimmable; whether you can dim it depends on the GU10 bulb and dimmer you pair with it.

Frequently Asked

Does it come with a bulb?

No. The Calipso takes one GU10 bulb up to 10W, sold separately, so you can choose the colour temperature and beam angle that suit the room.

Can I dim it?

The fitting itself is non-dimmable, so dimming depends entirely on the GU10 bulb and dimmer you fit. Pair a dimmable GU10 with a compatible dimmer if you want to dim it.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means it is for dry interior ceilings only, such as living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and home offices. It is not rated for bathrooms or outdoor soffits.

What finish is it?

It is a two-tone black brass fitting: a black aluminium ceiling trim with a fluted brass reflector tube that sits just below the ceiling line as a decorative detail.
