Description

The large Cabra stands 15.5cm on a base 13.5cm across, five centimetres taller than the small one and half a centimetre wider at the foot. The profile is the same: a wide ridged cup, a narrow waist, a flared foot. The glaze comes out green over most of the body with the paler tone left in the ridges, and no two are the same.

Fifteen and a half centimetres puts a pillar candle at about the height of a mantel clock, and set beside the 10.5cm Cabra it gives two flame heights instead of one. The pair stands together on a mantel, each taking a pillar candle. The cup is flat and wide, cut for a pillar and not a taper.

The body is ceramic and it is made in Portugal. A reactive glaze cannot be repeated exactly, so the balance of olive and natural differs on every piece, and two of them side by side look less alike than their measurements suggest. The candle is not included.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

15.5cm tall and 13.5cm across.

What candle does it take?

A pillar candle.

Is there a smaller size?

Yes, 10.5cm tall.

Will every one look the same?

Close, but not identical. A reactive glaze breaks differently on every piece, so no two are alike.

How do I look after it?

Wash it in warm water with a mild dish soap after every use so that wax does not build up, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off it. Stand the candle securely and keep the flame away from the sides. It gets hot in use, so let it cool fully before handling it, keep it out of reach of children, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
