Description

A round mat of braided hemp, 105cm across and 3cm thick, with a hole cut at the centre and a straight slit running from the hole out to the rim, so it lays around a tree stand rather than lifting over the top of the tree. The braid coils outward from the centre and is stitched as it goes, so the surface is ridged rather than flat.

One hundred and five centimetres covers the stand of a tree up to about two metres and the floor for a foot or so beyond it, which is where needles and water land. Laid flat it reads as a round rug, and it is stiff enough to stay put rather than rucking underfoot.

The fibre is hemp, spun into cord and braided by hand. Hemp grows dense enough to need no pesticide and leaves little room for weeds. Some shedding of fibre is to be expected, and the colour will lighten in direct sun.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

105cm across.

How does it fit around the tree?

There is a hole at the centre and a slit out to the rim, so it lays around the stand instead of lifting over the top.

Will it shed?

Some shedding of fibre is to be expected, which is the nature of the material.

Does the colour fade?

In direct sunlight, yes.

How do I look after it?

Blot spills straight away with a clean sponge. Vacuum it carefully and not with a rotating brush, which can damage the fibres. It can be professionally cleaned.
