Description

Buddy is a stoneware pet bowl with straight, upright sides and a small raised paw print in the centre of its base, a cheerful detail that shows itself as the bowl is licked clean. It is 100% stoneware in a brown glaze flecked with darker speckles, with fine rings running round the inside wall and across the floor of the bowl. At 21.5cm across and 7cm tall it is a wide, low bowl: roomy enough for a proper meal, yet low enough that a pet can reach the bottom without fuss. It weighs a solid 1.1KG, which gives it real heft on the floor.

Fill it with dry food, wet food or fresh water and give it a settled spot in the kitchen, the utility room or a quiet corner of the hallway where your dog or cat eats. The broad, open shape suits a pet that likes room around its nose at mealtimes, and the weight of the stoneware means it is less likely to be pushed across a hard floor by an eager eater. The brown sits easily beside wooden floors, woven rugs, rattan baskets and stone tiles, so the feeding spot looks like part of the room rather than an afterthought. It also makes a thoughtful present for a friend who has just welcomed a puppy or a kitten home.

Stoneware is a dense, hard-wearing ceramic fired at high temperature, which is why it suits an everyday bowl. Care is simple: it goes in the dishwasher, so a daily wash takes no effort, and it can also go in the microwave and the oven. The glaze is speckled and slightly variable across the surface, which keeps the plain shape from looking flat. For a tidy feeding station, set it on a woven mat or a wooden board, and stand a second bowl beside it for water.

Can it go in the dishwasher?

Yes. The bowl goes in the dishwasher, and it can also go in the microwave and the oven, which keeps daily care simple.

How big is the bowl?

It is 21.5cm across and 7cm tall, a wide, low shape that gives a pet plenty of room at mealtimes.

Can I use it for water as well as food?

Yes. It works equally well for dry food, wet food or fresh water, and the stoneware goes in the dishwasher after either.

Is it heavy enough to stay in place?
