The Bubble wall light brings two alabaster globes and a slim integrated LED reading light together on one matt white backplate. Each globe is a sphere of cream alabaster, 8cm across, with soft natural veining. Between them the globes take two G9 lamps, each up to 60mm long. The rounded backplate and iron structure hold everything in a tidy vertical line, and the whole fitting is 38cm tall and projects 10.5cm from the wall. Below the globes sits an angled tubular reading light: 2.7W, 250 lumens at a warm 3000K, with a CRI of 90 or above and a 45° beam. Its integrated LED needs no bulb.

This is a wall light made for reading where you rest. Fixed either side of a bed, it gives a soft glow from the alabaster globes for winding down and a focused beam from the reading light for a book or a crossword. It works just as well beside an armchair in a living room, by a desk in a study, or along a hallway, where a pair would frame a doorway neatly. Hotel rooms and guest bedrooms suit it too, where one fitting has to do two jobs. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The structure is iron in a matt white finish, a clean backdrop that lets the cream tone of the alabaster stand out. Because alabaster is a natural stone, the veining varies from globe to globe. It runs on 220-240V mains and is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, the matt white disappears against pale painted walls, leaving the globes and the slim reading arm to carry the look; against a deeper wall colour, the white backplate becomes a crisp outline. We like a pair either side of a simple timber bedside table for a calm, modern bedroom.
