Description

The Brinley is a 120mm mini pendant light built around a clear glass jar-style shade with brushed nickel metalwork at the top and base. The glass shade encloses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately), and the brushed nickel frame includes a bail-handle detail at the canopy that references traditional canning jar hardware. The pendant hangs on 2600mm of adjustable wire, allowing a maximum drop of 2870mm or a minimum drop of 256mm depending on ceiling height.

Designed for installation above kitchen islands, breakfast bars, dining tables and in entrance halls, the Brinley works as a single accent in compact spaces or grouped in multiples along longer surfaces. The 120mm diameter keeps the visual footprint small enough for kitchens with 2.4-2.6m ceilings, while the clear glass allows the bulb to project light outward without significant colour shift or shadowing. The brushed nickel finish pairs with stainless steel appliances, chrome taps and grey-toned cabinetry.

The glass shade is open at the top where it meets the brushed nickel collar, which allows heat from the bulb to vent naturally without needing additional ventilation holes. The bail-handle detail at the canopy is decorative rather than functional, but it reinforces the jar aesthetic and gives the pendant a recognisable silhouette when hung at typical island height (700-900mm above the worktop). The wire is adjustable on installation by looping excess length inside the canopy, allowing the pendant to be set at the required drop height without cutting the cable.

What bulb does the Brinley take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to match the vintage jar aesthetic.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop height is set during installation by looping excess wire inside the canopy. Once the canopy is fixed to the ceiling rose, the drop height cannot be changed without removing the canopy and re-looping the wire.

How many pendants are needed above a kitchen island?

For a standard 1800-2400mm island, two or three Brinley pendants spaced 600-800mm apart typically provide adequate task lighting. For longer islands, scale up in odd numbers (three or five) for visual balance.

Is the glass shade removable for cleaning?

Yes. The glass jar shade unscrews from the brushed nickel collar at the top, allowing the glass to be removed for cleaning or bulb replacement. The shade should be wiped with a soft damp cloth and dried before refitting.
