Description

The Brillix is a compact white metal wall light with an integrated 9.5W LED and a PIR motion sensor set into the front panel. The sensor detects movement and switches the light on automatically, providing hands-free illumination for porches, side entrances, pathways and garage doors. The light emits warm 3000K output through a polycarbonate diffuser panel angled upwards from the wall-mounted body.

Designed for UK outdoor installation, the fitting carries an IP54 rating, protecting the electronics from dust ingress and water splashing from any direction. The 100mm height and 164mm projection suit typical doorframes and brick pillars where a low-profile fitting is needed without protruding far from the wall. The sensor sits below the light panel in a recessed black housing, angled to cover an arc in front of the fitting.

The white powder-coated metal body resists corrosion and discolouration from UV exposure, making it suitable for coastal and high-rainfall areas. The integrated 9.5W LED is non-replaceable but rated for 25,000+ hours of operation, equivalent to around 10 years of typical evening-only use. The 3000K colour temperature provides a warmer tone than cool-white security lights, reducing harsh glare on rendered and painted walls.

Can the motion sensor sensitivity be adjusted?

The PIR sensor has a fixed detection range set by Ideal Lux. Typical PIR sensors in this style detect movement up to 5-8 metres in front of the fitting, but specific range and duration settings for the Brillix are manufacturer-set and cannot be adjusted by the user.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The IP54 rating and powder-coated metal construction provide adequate protection against salt spray and coastal moisture. For extreme coastal exposure (within 100m of breaking surf), consider applying a protective wax coating to the metal annually.

How is it wired?

The Brillix connects to mains 230V via a rear knock-out in the metal back plate. It requires a standard outdoor-rated junction box or cable entry from inside the wall cavity. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with Part P of the Building Regulations.

Does it stay on continuously or switch off after a set time?

The motion sensor switches the light on when movement is detected and typically holds it on for 30-90 seconds before switching off if no further movement is detected. The exact duration depends on the sensor's internal timer setting, which is pre-configured by the manufacturer.
