Description

The Boreal is a 2 light multi pendant light in alabaster, a modern cylinder of soft white stone made in two stacked sections, topped with a gold cap and hung on a gold textile cable. It stands 43cm tall, with a 12cm shade and a 12cm ceiling canopy. The light is integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit, and it gives a warm white at 3000K with a colour rendering index of 90 or above, so colours look true. Its beam spreads 360°, so the light passes through the alabaster on every side and the whole cylinder glows evenly rather than throwing a hard pool downwards.

With a 12cm shade, it is slender enough to hang where a wider pendant would crowd the space: over a dining table, in a hallway, on a landing, or beside the bed in place of a table lamp. The even glow is kind to a dining room in the evening, and the gold cap gives a neat finish where it meets the cable. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, and it hangs on 1.5m of gold textile cable. Its modern, simple shape sits well in a contemporary home and brings warmth to a traditional room through the stone.

The alabaster carries the cloudy veining of the stone, so the glow has gentle depth rather than the flat look of glass or acrylic. The cap is gold and the cable is a gold textile, so the gold runs from the top of the shade up the cable. It runs on 220 to 240V mains and is for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 5 year guarantee. For styling, we like it over a dark timber table or against a deep painted wall, where the lit alabaster reads at its warmest, with brass or aged gold nearby to pick up the cap.
