Description
The Bisel is a modern spiral cluster chandelier: a group of slim, cylindrical drops in matt terracotta, each hung on its own textile cable from a round ceiling canopy. The drops hang at stepped heights, so the cluster turns in a loose spiral as it falls, and each shade finishes in a band of glass at its lower end. Every shade is 21cm tall and 6.4cm across, the canopy is 35cm across, and the cables run from 1.5m to 3m, so this is a fitting with real length. The warm, earthy terracotta sits softly against plaster, timber and stone.
A spiral this long is made for height. We would hang it down a stairwell or over a sweeping staircase, where the drops can be seen turning from the hall below and the landing above, or in a double-height entrance hall. It also suits a dining room or living room with a tall ceiling, hung as a centrepiece over a table or a seating area, and its clean lines sit well in a modern interior. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, which covers the hallways, landings and living spaces it suits best.
It is built from iron and glass, with textile cable, and runs on 220-240V mains. It takes G9 lamps and the recommended lamp is a G9 LED, so that is the cap to match whenever a lamp needs replacing. As a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, let the terracotta pick up warm woods, natural linen and ochre or rust textiles, and keep the wall behind it plain so the spiral has room to turn and catch the eye from every angle.
