Description

The Bijou is an LED glass pendant light built from three stacked opal glass forms — a vertical cylinder at the top, a sphere in the middle, and a diamond-shaped shade at the base — suspended on a single cord from a matt black circular canopy. An integrated 20W LED runs through the centre column, casting 3000K warm white light through all three glass elements. The fitting height from canopy to lowest point measures 493mm, with the widest point (the diamond) at 198mm diameter.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Bijou pairs vertical emphasis with diffused ambient light. The cord is adjustable between 610mm and 2364mm on installation, allowing the pendant to be positioned 700-900mm above a worktop or dining surface depending on ceiling height. The matt black canopy and spacing rings between each glass element provide visual definition against the white opal glass, creating a monochrome contrast that suits contemporary, mid-century and minimalist interiors.

The three glass shades are hand-blown opal glass, giving a soft translucent finish that diffuses the LED evenly without glare. The combined glass elements and black metal fittings give the pendant a substantial presence without excessive visual weight. The vertical stacking of contrasting shapes — geometric cylinder, organic sphere, faceted diamond — creates a sculptural quality that works as both task light and decorative accent. The integrated LED eliminates the need for bulb replacement and provides consistent 3000K output suited to kitchens, dining areas and hallways.

Is the Bijou dimmable?

The integrated 20W LED is compatible with mains dimmers, but dimmer performance depends on the specific dimmer model. Check with the manufacturer of your existing dimmer or contact us before pairing to confirm compatibility.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 493mm fitting height plus a minimum 610mm drop means the pendant sits at least 1103mm below the ceiling. For a kitchen island or dining table, positioning the lowest point 700-900mm above the surface requires a ceiling height of 2.7m or above. Lower ceilings can accommodate the Bijou if the cord is shortened during installation.

Can the cord length be adjusted after installation?

The cord is adjusted during installation by looping excess cable inside the ceiling canopy. Once installed, further adjustment requires removing the canopy and re-setting the cord length, which is straightforward but requires disconnecting the mains supply.

How is the glass cleaned?

Opal glass can be wiped with a soft microfibre cloth dampened with warm water and a small amount of washing-up liquid. Dry immediately with a clean cloth to avoid water marks. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they will scratch the glass surface.
