Description

Four glass baubles, each 8cm across, blown with a ribbed surface that runs from the cap down to the base so the sphere reads as a row of vertical flutes. The glass is a warm honey gold and the tone deepens where the ribs turn away from the light. Each bauble carries a fluted brass cap, a hanging ring and a dark leather tie.

Eight centimetres is large for a bauble, and these hang singly rather than massed: four will carry a small tree on their own, or sit along a garland where a 3cm bauble would disappear into it. The ribbing catches light at several points as the bauble turns rather than flashing once and going dark.

The glass is recycled and mouth-blown, and the caps are metal. Because each one is blown into its mould by hand the ribs vary in depth and the gold sits unevenly across the surface, so no two in a set match.
