Description

A rattan cylinder 18cm tall and 12cm across, woven in close horizontal rows of cane over upright stakes. Down one face runs a raised column of three chevrons, each built from flat rattan strips fanning out from a central spine, standing proud of the weave around it. The rim is a thick rope of cane coiled over the top edge, and the base sits on a bound ring.

At 12cm across it takes a handful of long tools standing upright, spoons, spatulas and a whisk among them, with the handles well clear of the 18cm rim. It is made to sit out on a worktop beside a hob rather than to go in a drawer.

The rattan is left natural, a warm mid tan speckled with darker flecks and paler patches where the cane varies along its length. Every holder is woven by hand, so the chevrons sit at slightly different spacings and the rim coils differently from one to the next. The Bersama range also runs a fruit bowl, a bread basket, placemats and a set of napkin rings.

Frequently Asked

How big is the utensil holder?

18cm tall and 12cm across.

What is it made from?

Rattan, woven by hand.

Will every one look the same?

Not exactly. The cane varies in tone along its length and the weave is worked by hand, so the chevron panel and the coiled rim differ from one holder to the next.

What else is made in the range?

A fruit bowl, a bread basket, placemats and a set of napkin rings.

How do I look after it?

Go over it now and then with a soft bristle brush to lift dust out of the weave, and wipe it clean with a soft, dry cloth only. The rattan is a natural material, so keep harsh chemical cleaning products away from it.
