Description

The Bella Vestita Direct is a lamp shade in Ivory, made to give its pendant a softer, more homely look. It is a neat drum, 15cm across and 6cm tall, with close vertical pleats running all the way round its sides, so the surface catches light and shadow in fine, even bands. It is a part rather than a light on its own. It fits onto the Bella pendant (direct-light version), which is sold separately and is what gives the light. Together the two make one finished pendant, the shade dressing the fitting in a warm, pale tone that sits quietly against white or neutral ceilings.

At 15cm across, it suits the places where a smaller pendant makes sense: over a bedside table, above a desk or console, in a hallway or on a landing, or hung in a row above a dining table, where several small shades often look better than one large one. The pleating gives a tailored, softly upholstered feel that works well in bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms, and the Ivory tone sits comfortably beside oak, linen, plaster and painted walls. It carries no IP rating, so it is for dry indoor rooms only. Order its pendant alongside it, as the shade gives no light by itself.

The finish is Ivory throughout, and the pleats are set close and even all the way round, giving clean vertical lines from the side and a neat edge at the top and bottom. Power is from the mains, wired in by an electrician, so have a qualified electrician fit the pendant it sits on. At just 6cm tall, the shade stays shallow and compact, which keeps the look light over a table or bed and leaves the room feeling open beneath it.
