Description

A drum of midnight black faux silk, lined inside with green olive, hangs from a slim antique brass suspension. Across the base sits a frosted acrylic diffuser with an antique brass rim, so the light is softened before it reaches the room and the lamp itself stays out of view. At 40cm across, the shade has enough width to read as a proper shape over a table without crowding the ceiling above it. It takes an E27 lamp, up to 20W, and an LED GLS is the sensible choice.

The drop adjusts on installation and can be let out to as much as 3.3m, which makes it as useful over a dining table or kitchen island as it is dropping down a stairwell or landing. Shortened, it works well in a hallway or above a bedside table. We reach for this one when a plain glass shade would feel too cold and a metal shade too heavy. It will dim if you pair it with a dimmable lamp and a matching dimmer; neither comes with the fitting. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from bathrooms and covered porches.

The fabric shade is dual layered, black outside and olive within, so the lining warms the light on its way down through the acrylic. Dust the faux silk with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, and give the diffuser a wipe with a dry cloth only, since sprays and solvents will cloud acrylic. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range shares the same E27 platform, and we also stock it as universal flush and semi flush ceiling fittings and as three light linear pendants, with antique brass among the finishes if you want the metalwork to match elsewhere in the room.
