Description

A wide drum shade in faux silk hangs from a slim polished chrome suspension, and the shade is finished differently inside and out: raw cocoa on the face of it, a warmer Grecian bronze within, so the colour shifts as you move beneath it. The underside is closed with a frosted acrylic diffuser, which keeps the lamp out of sight from below and softens the light before it reaches the room. At 40cm across, it has enough presence to serve as the main light over a table or in the middle of a room.

We would hang this over a dining table, in a hallway, or in a bedroom, anywhere the light wants to be gentle rather than bright and directional. It takes an E27 lamp, and we would fit an LED in the familiar GLS shape, which keeps warmth down inside a fabric shade. Dimming is possible if you pair a suitable lamp with a compatible dimmer, though neither comes with the fitting. Low rooms and tall stairwells both suit it, which makes it an easy choice for flats and older houses alike.

The suspension, ceiling cup and diffuser rim are polished chrome, and the shade is faux silk with the acrylic panel set into its base. Keep the fabric fresh with a soft brush, and lift marks from the chrome and the acrylic with a barely damp cloth before drying it off, always with the power off first. It is an earthed fitting, made for dry indoor rooms. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range runs alongside this pendant in polished chrome, antique brass, satin nickel, satin black and white, taking in flush and semi flush fittings as well as longer linear bars for a row of shades above an island.
