Description

The shade here is a wide drum in faux silk, nude beige on the outside with a moonlight lining inside, so the fabric reads soft by day and warmer still once the light is on. It measures 40cm across, which gives the fitting presence over a table without crowding the room around it. A frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside, spreading the light downwards and keeping the lamp out of sight, while the suspension and ceiling plate are finished in polished chrome. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W.

The flex adjusts, so this hangs happily over a dining table, in a bay window, or beside a bed where you want light brought down within reach. It can be taken up short for an ordinary ceiling height or let out to 3.31m in a stairwell or a room with a tall void above. We would put a warm white LED GLS lamp in it and leave the diffuser to do the rest; with a suitable lamp and a compatible dimmer the light will dim, though neither is supplied with the pendant.

Fabric, acrylic and polished metal make for a light fitting rather than a heavy one, and the chrome has a bright mirror sheen that picks up whatever colour sits nearby. To keep it fresh, run a soft clean brush over the faux silk from time to time, and give the chrome and the diffuser a wipe with a barely damp cloth once the power is off and the lamp has gone cold. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range runs to universal semi flush fittings and linear pendants in polished chrome, antique brass and satin nickel if you want the same metal repeated elsewhere in the house. Lamps are not included.
