Description

Taupe faux silk wraps the outside of this drum shade, with a halo gold lining that warms the light as it falls. The shade is 40cm across and fairly shallow, so it reads as a soft, broad disc rather than a tall cylinder. Above it, the suspension is finished in satin nickel, brushed and quiet instead of bright. An E27 lampholder sits within, and the drop is adjustable, so the shade can hang low over a table or sit up nearer the ceiling in a room with less height to give away.

It suits a dining table, a generous hallway, or a bedroom where a shade with some softness works better than bare glass. We would fit a GLS A60 LED lamp of up to 20W, which is plenty for eating and reading by without harshness, and it will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer. Warm wood, cream walls and brass door furniture all sit happily with the taupe and gold, while the nickel keeps the whole thing from tipping too far towards yellow.

The shade is a dual faux silk construction, taupe outside and gold within, hung from metalwork in satin nickel. Keep it well by lifting dust from the fabric with a soft brush every few weeks and buffing the metal now and then with a dry cloth, leaving solvents and polish sprays out of it. It carries a one year warranty. This one is meant for dry rooms inside the house on a normal household supply, so keep it clear of bathroom zones and open porches.
