Description

A dual faux silk drum sits tight against the ceiling here, antique gold on the outside with a ruby lining that warms the light as it falls. Below it, a frosted acrylic diffuser trimmed in polished chrome closes off the base, so the three lamps behind it read as a single soft wash rather than separate hot spots. At 40cm across, it holds the middle of a ceiling without dropping into head height.

We reach for a flush fitting like this in hallways and landings, bedrooms under a lower ceiling, and small dining rooms where a hanging shade would sit awkwardly. Rented flats and low-ceilinged cottages are where it earns its place, and it works as the only fitting in a modest room.
