Baymont 5 Light Flush Ceiling Light Raw Cocoa - Polished Chrome

A wide drum shade sits close to the ceiling here, held on a polished chrome frame with five E27 lampholders inside. The shade is dual faux silk: raw cocoa on the outside, a warmer grecian bronze within, so the colour shifts as you move beneath it. A frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside, softening the light before it reaches the room and keeping the lamps out of sight. At 60cm across it reads as a broad, calm disc rather than something that shouts for attention.

That spread of lampholders across the width gives plenty of output, which makes this a sensible main light for a good sized room: a sitting room, a wide landing, or a dining space where a hanging fitting would sit too low over the table. We reach for it in houses with ordinary ceiling heights, where a suspended shade would be in the way but one small fitting on its own would not cover the floor area. It works on a dimmer circuit with suitable lamps, so evening levels are easy to bring down.

The frame is metal under a polished chrome finish, the shade is fabric covered, and the diffuser is acrylic. Dust the shade with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum, and wipe the diffuser with a barely damp cloth once everything is switched off and cold. It carries a one year warranty. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; a bathroom or a porch asks for something sealed instead. It measures 600mm in diameter with an overall height of 240mm, so it stays tight to the ceiling while covering a generous span.

Which lamps should I use?

Five E27 lamps, with LED GLS (A60) the sensible choice. The maximum is 20W per lamp.

Can I dim it?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer come with it.
