Description

The Barna pendant is a clean, modern ceiling light in matt black and white. Its aluminium shade pairs a matt black top and collar with a white body, and it hangs on a textile cable. It comes in two sizes. The Small has a 28cm shade with a taller bell shape, and the Large has a 45cm shade with a wider, shallower dome. Both hang from a 14cm ceiling canopy on a 1.5m cable. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit. It gives a warm white 3000K glow with a colour rendering of 90 or more, spread across a wide 120 degree beam.

With its clean Scandinavian lines and two-tone finish, Barna sits well over a dining table, a kitchen island or a breakfast bar, pooling warm light over the surface beneath. The Small suits a bedside, a hallway or a row of two or three over an island. The Large, with its 45cm shade, holds its own alone over a dining table or in the centre of a living room. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It is not dimmable and works on and off from an ordinary wall switch, so there is no dimmer to match.

Barna is built on an aluminium structure in a matt black and white finish. The black top and collar give a crisp line against the white body, and it hangs on a textile cable that looks neater than plain flex. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it runs on 220-240V. It carries a 5 year guarantee. For styling, the two sizes work well together. Hang a Large over the dining table and a pair of Smalls over a nearby island, and the matching black and white ties an open-plan room together without fuss.
