Description

A round pouffe, 55cm across and 30cm high, covered in a kilim woven on a handloom. The weave is flat rather than piled, and the pattern runs in bands of diamonds and stepped chevrons across the top and round the sides, in rust, terracotta, burgundy, ochre and a soft grey over an undyed ground. The top is flat and the sides drop straight down like a drum, the edge rounded off rather than piped.

At 30cm it sits below the seat line of most sofas, which is the height a footrest wants, and 55cm across takes both feet or a tray. It is rated to 180kg, so it stands in as a seat when a room runs out of chairs. In the gap between two sofas it can be pulled towards either one.

The cover is hemp. Each pouffe is woven on a traditional Indian handloom, the kilim made by hand, so the density of the weave and the exact run of the pattern change from one to the next and the same colours sit at different strengths. The pattern is woven in rather than printed on.
