Description

Five arms curve out from a polished chrome centre, each holding an E14 candle lamp, and the whole cluster sits beneath a broad drum of faux silk in taupe with a halo gold lining. At 60cm across, it is a generous piece that fills the space above a table without crowding it. The chrome glints between the arms, the gold lining throws a warm cast downwards, and the taupe outer keeps things quiet against a painted or papered wall.

We would hang it over a dining table first of all, where the width of the shade spreads light across place settings rather than dropping it in one tight pool. It works just as well in a sitting room with decent ceiling height, or above a hall table where you want something to look up at. It hangs from a chain, so the drop can be set to suit the room. Dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer will let you take the level right down after dark.

The frame is metal, finished in polished chrome, and it takes an earth connection. The shade is faux silk over its full depth, so treat it gently: a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum lifts dust from the fabric, while a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one keeps the chrome free of fingermarks. Turn the power off and let the lamps cool before you start. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, well away from steam and splashes. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are chosen separately, and LED candles are what we would fit.
