Banyan 3 Light E14 Iron Pendant Light 45cm Grey - Polished Chrome

Three candle lamps sit inside a single wide drum shade here, carried on arms that rise from a polished chrome centre. The shade is faux silk in grey, lined in white laminate so the light is pushed back down into the room instead of soaking away into the fabric. At 45cm across, and shallow in proportion to that width, it gives a broad soft pool of light below rather than anything narrow or sharp, while the chrome above keeps the whole thing from looking heavy.

It hangs on a 1.5m chain, so the drop can be set high in a hall or landing, or brought down low over a dining table or a seating area. We would fit LED candle lamps in the E14 sockets and leave them slightly warm in tone to suit the grey fabric. If you want the level to shift through the evening, choose dimmable lamps and run them from a compatible dimmer, as neither of those comes with the light. It suits rooms that want a little softness overhead without pattern or strong colour taking charge.

The metalwork is finished in bright polished chrome and the shade is fabric over a laminate liner, so the two want different treatment: a dry cloth and a light buff for the chrome, and a soft brush or a low vacuum for the shade, which should be kept away from water and sprays. Keep the fabric dry and it holds its colour well. This is a dry indoor fitting for hallways, bedrooms and dining rooms, not for bathrooms or covered porches. It carries a one year warranty. Grey and chrome give you a quiet middle ground that works with white walls, oak and darker timber alike, and we find it a useful answer where a glass or metal shade would be too hard in a room. Lamps are not included.

Which lamps does it take?

Three E14 candle lamps. LED candle (C35) is the type we would choose, up to 20W each, and lamps are not supplied with the pendant.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and use a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer are included.

How far down will it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 340mm to 1800mm using the 1.5m chain supplied, so it can sit close to the ceiling or well down over a table.

What size is the shade?

It measures 450mm in diameter and 150mm deep, with the metal body adding 220mm of height above it.

How should the shade be cleaned?

Dust it with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting. The faux silk should not be wetted, and household sprays should be kept off both the fabric and the chrome.

Is there a warranty?
