Description

Three slim arms rise from a satin nickel stem and gather inside one wide drum shade, so light is spread across a room rather than aimed at a single spot. The shade is faux silk in black with a white lining, which keeps the glow soft while the outer face stays dark and quiet. At 45cm across it holds the centre of a room without crowding it, and the chain suspension means the drop can be set high or low to suit the ceiling above it.

We would hang this over a dining table, where the width of the shade covers most of the top and the light falls on the food rather than in anyone's eyes. It is also a sensible choice for a hallway or landing with a bit of height to play with, and for a sitting room where one small pendant would look lost. It takes candle lamps on an E14 fitting; choose dimmable ones and run them from a compatible dimmer if you want to bring the level down in the evening.

The frame and arms are metal in a satin nickel finish with a soft sheen, paired with a faux silk shade that keeps the whole thing looking lighter than its size suggests. For cleaning, run a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting over the fabric and use a dry duster on the metalwork, keeping polishes and damp cloths well away from the shade. It is meant for dry rooms indoors and works on an ordinary household circuit. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included, and we would put warm white candle LEDs in it to make the most of that pale lining.
