Description

Three slim arms rise from a central stem finished in antique brass, each taking an E14 candle lamp, with a broad faux silk shade of 45cm across gathering the whole arrangement into one soft shape. The shade is black on the outside and lined with a white laminate, so the surface facing down stays bright and clean while the outer face reads as a calm dark form against a pale ceiling. A chain suspension of 1.5m comes with it, and the drop can be shortened or let out so the fitting sits where you want it.

We reach for this one over a dining table, where the width of the shade suits a rectangular or round top and the light lands on the table rather than in anyone's eyes. It works equally well in a hallway with decent head height, or in a sitting room as the main light above a low table. Three candle lamps together give a generous, even wash rather than a hard pool, and if you fit dimmable lamps and pair them with a dimmer you can pull the level right back for evenings.

The metalwork is finished in antique brass, a warmer, softly aged tone that sits comfortably with wood, rattan and darker paint colours. The shade fabric is a faux silk, so keep water away from it and go over it now and then with a soft brush or the upholstery attachment of a vacuum on its lowest setting; the brass parts want nothing more than a dry cloth once the lamps are cold. It is an indoor fitting for ordinary household circuits, at home in dry rooms rather than bathrooms or porches, and it needs an earth connection. It carries a one year warranty. Candle lamps are chosen separately and are not included.
