Description

The Balise is a compact table lamp made like a small lantern: a cylinder of ribbed blown glass held between two bands of matt black iron, the upper band a little wider than the lower. It takes one GX53 lamp, and its light comes through the ribbed glass softened into fine vertical lines, giving a gentle glow rather than a bright glare. We sell it in two sizes. The Small stands 16cm tall on a 9cm base, and the Medium stands 19.5cm tall on an 11cm base. Both share the same cylindrical shape, so the choice comes down to the space you have.

It is a lamp for the quieter corners of a home: a bedside table, a side table by the sofa, a shelf, a desk or a hallway console. The Small suits a narrow bedside or a bookshelf, while the Medium has a little more presence on a sideboard or a larger side table. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, such as living rooms, bedrooms, studies and hallways. The 2m cable gives you some freedom in reaching a socket. Its clean, modern lines suit a contemporary or minimal room, and the black frame looks just as good against pale walls as in a darker scheme.
