Description

The Balbo is an 8-light chandelier built around a cluster of hand-blown cognac glass spheres arranged on a polished nickel central hub. Each of the eight spheres houses a single G9 bulb (sold separately) and is held in place by a nickel collar, creating a multi-directional light source that casts warm amber-tinted light through the tinted glass in all directions.

Designed for dining rooms, living areas and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, the Balbo provides both ambient and decorative lighting. The 50cm diameter suits tables from 1.2m to 1.8m in length when the pendant is positioned centrally, and the adjustable drop from 40cm to 170cm allows the chandelier to be set at the correct height for the room during installation. The polished nickel canopy fits standard UK ceiling roses and the cable runs through the centre of the suspension rod.

The cognac glass is mouth-blown into spherical moulds, giving each globe slight tonal variation and occasional small bubbles within the glass — this is characteristic of hand-blown production and adds to the fixture's warmth under illumination. The chandelier requires eight G9 bulbs, each rated at a maximum of 28W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with G9 LED capsule bulbs between 2W-4W and 2700K-3000K to achieve warm ambient light through the cognac glass.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop ranges from 40cm to 170cm. For installation above a dining table, the chandelier typically sits 70-90cm above the table surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above. The drop is set during installation by adjusting the suspension rod length.

Is the chandelier dimmable?

Dimming capability depends on the bulbs you fit. If you use dimmable G9 LED bulbs and pair them with a compatible LED dimmer switch, the chandelier can be dimmed. Check bulb and dimmer compatibility before purchasing.

How is the cognac glass cleaned?

Switch off power at the mains before cleaning. Wipe each glass sphere with a dry microfibre cloth. For fingerprints or dust buildup, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Avoid spraying cleaners directly onto the glass or metal fittings.
