Description

The Balance is a 6 light pendant with two concentric gold metal rings supporting six frosted opal glass globes, each housing a G9 bulb fitting (bulbs sold separately). The rings sit at different heights and diameters within the same plane, creating an orbital arrangement where the globes project at varying distances from the central axis. The larger outer ring measures 81.2cm diameter, while the inner ring sits approximately 50cm across.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and open-plan living areas with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Balance provides ambient light distributed evenly across a 2-3m table length or seating area. The suspension cables are adjustable between 62cm and 152cm drop, allowing the fitting to be positioned 70-90cm above a dining surface or higher in double-height spaces. The gold finish on the metal rings and fittings catches and reflects light from the frosted globes, adding warmth to the downward illumination.

The frosted opal glass diffuses the light from each G9 bulb, softening the output and reducing glare when the fitting is viewed from below. Each globe is hand-blown, so minor variations in size and thickness are normal. The metal frame construction keeps the total weight manageable for standard UK ceiling roses, and the IP20 rating confirms this is an indoor-only fitting suitable for dry areas including living rooms, dining rooms and hallways but not bathrooms or covered outdoor spaces.

The Balance takes six G9 capsule bulbs, each rated up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 3-5W LED G9 bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient dining or living room lighting.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop ranges from 62cm minimum to 152cm maximum. For a dining table the fitting typically sits 70-90cm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. The 81.2cm diameter suits tables 1.8-2.4m long.

Can the height be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The suspension cables can be shortened or lengthened during installation to set the drop anywhere between 62cm and 152cm. Once fixed at a chosen height, the cables do not adjust further without re-accessing the ceiling rose.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the G9 bulbs used. Dimmable LED G9 bulbs paired with a trailing-edge LED dimmer will allow smooth dimming. Non-dimmable bulbs or incompatible dimmer types may flicker or fail to dim smoothly.
