Description

A five-pointed star, 19cm across and 8cm deep, built from brass ribs with panels of smoked mirrored glass set between them. Each point carries a small ball finial and the ribs meet at a raised boss in the centre. The glass is dark rather than bright, so it returns a dimmed reflection of whatever stands in front of it.

It seats over the leading shoot at the top of a tree rather than clipping on, so it wants a tip firm enough to carry 0.26kg. At 19cm across it reads from the other side of a room on a full-height tree and would overwhelm a tabletop one. The mirrored panels pick up the lights below them rather than producing any of their own.

The star is hand forged in brass and the panels are glass. Because the ribs are worked by hand the points sit at slightly different angles on every star, and each panel is cut to fit the frame it goes into. Bakara also runs in antique silver.
