Austral LED Pendant Light 6W 3000K - Gold

The Austral is a 12cm pendant light with a spherical optical acrylic shade sculpted to resemble cut crystal, suspended from a polished gold ceiling rose. An integrated 6W LED inside the sphere casts 3000K warm white light through the faceted acrylic, which diffracts and scatters the light into a gentle ambient glow. The gold canopy and cable suspension give the fitting a 1.1kg weight and a drop adjustable from 25cm to 160cm during installation.

Designed for hallways, stairwells, bedside positions and living room corners where ambient rather than task lighting is needed, the Austral works as a single pendant over a console table or in groups of two or three in a cluster or linear arrangement above a kitchen island. The 12cm diameter keeps the visual footprint small enough for narrow spaces while the faceted acrylic creates more visual presence than a plain globe of equivalent size. The adjustable drop allows the pendant to suit both standard 2.4m ceiling heights and taller vaulted or double-height spaces.

The optical acrylic is injection-moulded with a repeating facet pattern that catches and refracts light without the weight or fragility of actual cut crystal. The gold finish on the canopy is a warm mid-tone that pairs with both traditional brass hardware and contemporary gold-accented interiors. The LED output of 272 lumens at 3000K provides enough light to navigate a hallway or read by when positioned close to a chair, but not enough to serve as primary room lighting in a larger space.

The specification table lists dimmability as 'No', which means the integrated LED does not respond to standard trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmer switches. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only — not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor covered areas, or anywhere subject to moisture.

Is the Austral dimmable?

No. The integrated LED does not respond to standard dimmer switches. The specification table confirms dimmability as 'No', so the light operates at a fixed 272 lumens output when switched on.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations only and does not carry the moisture protection needed for bathroom zones. Use in hallways, living rooms, bedrooms and other dry interior spaces only.

What drop height works best?

The adjustable drop ranges from 25cm to 160cm. For a bedside position or hallway console table, a 40-60cm drop typically works well. Over a stairwell or in a double-height entrance hall, a longer drop of 100-150cm allows the pendant to sit at eye level when viewed from the upper floor.

How is the acrylic cleaned?

Wipe the faceted acrylic sphere with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the fitting and do not use household sprays or polishes that can leave residue in the facets.
